Margie Schneider, 96, of Jasper, passed away on October 14, 2021, at Life’s Journey of Avon surrounded by family.
Margie was born on April 16, 1925, in Jasper, Indiana to Walter and Mayme (Royer) Schnarr.
She met the love of her life, Edwin Schneider, shortly before he went off to fight in World War II. They were married upon his return on April 20, 1946, and they lived in Jasper where Edwin built their family home next door to her brother Bob, close to her mother and brother, Perp. They lived there with their three children (Penny, Patti and John) until 1959 when Margie encouraged Edwin to take a job at the Veteran’s Hospital in Indianapolis.
Margie stayed home with her children until 1969 when she decided to go to Nursing school. She worked in several different nursing positions from private duty to hospital care and nursing home administration. In retirement, she and Edwin volunteered at Jasper Memorial Hospital.
When Edwin was ready to retire, he and Margie decided to move back to their hometown of Jasper. They kept in touch with their friends and spent their retirement traveling, golfing and playing cards with their friends.
Margie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Trinity United Church of Christ for many years.
She is survived by her children; Penny (Phil) Woodward of Brownsburg, Ind., John (Sarah) Schneider of Pittsboro, Ind., and Patti (Mark) Kopp of Greenville, S.C.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-children; one sister, Betty Jenkins of New Braunfels, Texas; as well as multiple nephews and nieces and their spouses, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
