Marjorie L. “Marge” Bohnert, 96, of Jasper, passed away at 5:05 a.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018, at Randolph County Care Center in Sparta, Ill.

Marge was born in Huntingburg on September 24, 1921, to Walter and Justina “Dena” (Hoffman) Neuman. She married Robert H. Bohnert on November 29, 1945 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. He preceded her in death on December 22, 2012.

Marge retired from Siebert’s Clothing in Jasper as a seamstress. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, their St. Ann’s Sodality and the Jasper Circle of the Daughters of Isabella. She was also a member of the American Legion Post #147 Auxiliary and the Home Eck and Grandmother’s Club. She was an avid I.U. Basketball and St. Louis Cardinals fan. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing, sewing, reading, playing scrabble, traveling and being a volunteer and Eucharistic Minister at area nursing homes and for the homebound.

She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Smith (Mike) of San Diego, Calif.; one son, Robert Bohnert (Monica) of Sparta Ill.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Charlie Neuman (Ellen) of Princeton; one sister, Dorothy Klusmeier of San Diego, Calif.

Preceding her in death beside her husband was one son Norman Bohnert, two brothers, James “Jim” and Robert “Bud” Neuman.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Marjorie L. “Marge” Bohnert will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at church on Saturday.

The St. Joseph St. Ann’s Sodality and the Daughters of Isabella will pray the rosary at 3:45 p.m. on Friday and the American Legion Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service at 6 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
