MasterBrand VP recognized for support of citizen soldier

Jackie Ash awarded Senior Vice President Bob Donnelly with the Patriot Award at MasterBrand headquarters.

A MasterBrand supervisor was recognized for his support of a citizen soldier in his department while he was deployed to Kuwait.

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), Mr. Jackie Ash, presented Senior Vice President Bob Donnelly the Patriot Award for his continued support of Nick Arthur as he served in Kuwait in the Army National Guard.

Major Arthur served as the executive officer of the special troops battalion of the 38th Sustainment Brigade for a nine-month deployment. Arthur was second in command of a battalion of 750 soldiers supporting the troops in the region with postal operations as well as providing customs enforcement and logistics.

“It was recognized as one of the largest missions in the area,” Arthur said.

Arthur has served in the Army National Guard for 17 years and he was previously deployed to Afghanistan.

During his deployment, he missed his daughter’s graduation from Jasper High School as well as moving her to Ball State University.

But the support he had with the company during that deployment prompted him to put his supervisor in for the award.

“The company values are fantastic,” the 48-year-old said. “It’s hard when you come in and tell your supervisors you will be gone for a year but everyone was supportive and fantastic.”

Major Arthur presented MasterBrand’s Chief Information Officer Samir Shaw with a flag that had been flown in Kuwait as well as a certificate of appreciation from the 38th Sustainment Brigade for his support of Arthur while he was deployed.

The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed. One of our employees. Samir Shah will be presented with an American flag that was flown over our base in Kuwait.

Nick and his wife, Lynn, live in Jasper.
