Morris E. Weidenbenner, 83, of Ireland

Morris E. Weidenbenner, 83, of Ireland, passed away at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, due to injuries sustained from an accident near his home.
Morris was born in Ireland, Indiana, on January 1, 1934, to Andrew and Olevia (Durcholz) Weidenbenner. He married Mildred Hulsman on May 3, 1955, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana. She preceded him in death on July 7, 2001.
Morris was a 1952 graduate of Ireland High School. He was an independent contractor and retired from the Otwell and Ireland Water Utilities. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, a lifetime charter member of the Ireland Sportsman Club, and a member of the Ireland K of C.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family. He was also an avid Atlanta Braves and Purdue Boilermakers fan.
Surviving are five children, Dave Weidenbenner (Michelle) of Warsaw, Brenda Krempp (Andy) of Jasper, Wanda Munroe (Greg) of Orlando, Fla., Mike Weidenbenner (Melinda) of Jasper and Tim Weidenbenner (Shari) of Jasper; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marilyn Eckerle of Greenwood, Virginia Mehringer of Jasper and Frances Waddell (Jim) of Jasper; two brothers, John Weidenbenner of Ireland and Bernie Weidenbenner (Dorothy) of Jasper; and one sister-in-law, Helena Weidenbenner.
Preceding him in death are one brother, Jerome Weidenbenner and one grandson, Zane Weidenbenner.
Funeral services for Morris E. Weidenbenner will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or a favorite charity.
