The Indiana Department of Transportation is closing the Nancy Hanks rest stop on Interstate 64.
According to the INDOT Southwest office, INDOT conducted a review of all its rest stops in 2018 to determine their condition and amount of usage.
They identified several that needed excessive repairs and determined that the overall system could be improved by closing the least used facilities, according to Jason Tiller, INDOT Southwest Communications Director. The operational cost savings could be transferred to make improvements to those that receive more traffic.

Additionally, the commercial development at the Dale/Huntingburg and Ferdinand/Santa Claus exits allows for basic necessities to be filled at those exits.
