New CASA training class scheduled for February

Dubois County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is holding a winter training class for new, potential volunteers. The training will begin on Tuesday, February 13 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Dubois County Community Foundation located at 600 McCrillus Street in Jasper. The training will last approximately eight weeks.

Currently, more than 18 Dubois County children are on a waitlist.

CASA volunteers are community members trained to represent children who are part of the court system due to abuse or neglect. Over 150 Dubois County children need a CASA each year. Currently, more than 18 Dubois County children are on a waitlist.

Those interested in becoming a volunteer should complete an online application found at duboiscountycasa.org no later than January 30.
