New Jasper High School principal hired

The Greater Consolidated Jasper School Board chose Brian Wilson as the new principal for Jasper High School.

Wilson has worked for the Greater Jasper School Corporation for two years. His first as the Jasper Middle School Vice-Principal and this year as the Vice-Principal of the Jasper High School.

Wilson taught for 16 years as a math teacher before becoming an administrator for Vincennes Schools for seven years, the last three of which he was the principal at the middle school.

He completed his undergraduate studies at Purdue University and his graduate work Indiana State.

Wilson commended the staff he will be working with at the high school and acknowledged the school system would be facing greater challenges in the future.

Wilson stated the number one challenge will be the implementation of new legislation requiring five visitations per teacher. “Organizing a schedule to meet the needs of the students, meet the needs of the staff, and communicate with the community. Make sure everyone is in the loop of what we are doing at Jasper High School.” He said. “That will be a challenge but it’s something I am really looking forward to.”

Wilson has three children, two at the high school and a four year old at home.

“We are a growing school, a lot of places aren’t,” Wilson said. “So it’s a great place to be.”
