Jasper — The City of Jasper has upgraded its website.

The new site brings a fresh, modern look to the City’s online presence with a significant number of upgrades – from the perspective of the user and for the ability staff to provide updated information to the public.

The process was team driven according to Darla Blazey, Director of Community Development & Planning. “Each department contributed to the upgrade, adding or modifying content while keeping the user in mind during the process.”

The new website is a joint effort with eGov Strategies, an Indianapolis firm specializing in government websites, and AXIOM Marketing & Advertising of Evansville.

Among the changes:

The new site design also includes a new city logo which Mayor Seitz says will be integrated across City departments over the course of time. Seitz adds, “The new website is an exciting opportunity for the City of Jasper to better communicate with its citizens, business community and visitors as well as a vehicle for additional collaboration among City departments and their clients. We look forward to assimilating it into daily use.”

The site will continue to undergo upgrades after it is live. Future considerations include a meeting agenda builder and online payment system. The site is located here.

  1. A few things…

-Nice to see we live in Germany. That is, straight up, the German flag on our city’s (Located in America) logo.

-Not a single minority in ANY picture on the website. No Latinos, No African Americans, No Asians…white, white, white. SHAMEFUL.

-Axiom and Egov? Indianapolis and Evansville? Nice to see that the city adhered to its own “Shop Local” slogan when spending ample amounts of tax payer dollars on this new logo and website. There are many qualified graphic designers in our city let alone in our county. And surely the city could have incorporated a local web design company to work with a larger company if database storage was an issue. Exactly how much of our city’s money stayed here with this project?

-This new logo does not show a willingness to open ourselves up to new ideas, new people, or new businesses. Our German heritage is fantastic, and certainly we must pay tribute to those that came before us but this logo does not say “Welcome Toyota! Jasper is open for business!” It says “We’re German.” The End.

-I understand and appreciate the amount of hard work that went into making this website, but they completely missed the mark.

  2. Pretty boring.
I wonder how much it cost?
It should have been done locally.
Spend, spend, spend… at some point I’d like to see some return on all the investments.
