Northwood Retirement Community announces new administrator
Northwood Retirement Community announced April Haggerty was hired as the new administrator of the Jasper campus.

Haggerty is in her fourth week at Northwood Retirement Community.
“I feel so blessed to be a part of this wonderful community,” she said in a message to residents and families.
Haggerty has worked in long term care sing 2011. She and her husband, Don, have relocated to Jasper from their Brownstown, Ind. home.
“I have a lot of experience in long term care facilities throughout Indiana. However, my dream has came true with being part of Northwood Retirement,” she stated. “I am so thankful and proud to have my license on the wall here and I promise all of you that my heart is committed to the residents and staff.”
Haggerty completed her administrator training while working at Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown and has been working as interim administrators for various facilities around the state.
“I love working for Good Samaritan and Sanford Health, who own and operate Northwood,” she said. “They have been a blessing to my family currently in our lives. Jasper is so beautiful and having a community such as Northwood Retirement Community has really made 2020 turn into a blessing for us.”
Her priority at Northwood is to keep the residents safe from Covid-19 and it is challenging working through the new guidance being offered by the CDC, CMS, state, and county health departments. Adjusting to the changes and not being able to allow families to visit loved ones has been stressful.
“We are all living in history and the challenges we are facing with COVID-19 have changed life for all of us personally and within our work-life structure,” she said.
According to Haggerty, Northwood is the best long-term community she’s had the privilege of being an administrator.
“I know Diana Jones was the previous administrator and it’s been very tough filling her shoes, but I am up to the challenge,” she said.
Haggerty and her husband have a son, Ian, and three grandchildren, Brady (9), Ethan (7) and Addison (4).
