Othmar R. Jahn, 93

Othmar R. Jahn, age 93, passed away at 2:05 p.m. on Tuesday (March 5, 2013) at Brookside Village in Jasper.
Othmar was born in Jasper, Indiana on November 9, 1919 to Peter and Catherine (Weidenbenner) Jahn. He married Agnes Beckman on October 26, 1950 in St. Celestine Catholic Church, in Celestine, Indiana. She preceded him in death on December 9, 2004.
He was a lifelong farmer, and a United States Army Veteran serving as a Military Policeman in the Philippines during WWII. He was also on the Northeast Dubois School Board for 20 years.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, the Holy Name Society, the Holy Family Legacy Society, the St. Vincent DePaul Society, the V.F.W. Post #673, the American Legion Post #147, and the Jasper Knights of Columbus.
He was a Brute Award Recipient, for his service to Holy Family Catholic Church.
He enjoyed playing cards, especially Sheepshead, throwing horseshoes, and playing bingo at Brookside. He enjoyed watching baseball.
Surviving, two daughters, Susan Birk and her husband Jim, and Diana Sergesketter and her husband Gary, both of Jasper; three sons, Tony Jahn, and his wife, Kathy, Roman Jahn, and his wife Chris, and David “Butch” Jahn, and his wife Shannon, all of Jasper; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and four great=step-grandchildren
Preceding him in death are one son, Herman Jahn, two sisters, Rose Vonderheide and Anna Bahlman, and six brothers Joe, Leo, Albert, and three brothers who died in infancy.
Funeral services for Othmar R. Jahn will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday (March 8, 2013) at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper. The VFW Post #673 will conduct military graveside rites.
Friends may call from 12:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday (March 7, 2013) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel.
