Paul G. Bailey, 91, Stendal

Paul G. Bailey, 91, of Stendal, passed away at 1:15 a.m., Thursday, August 15, 2019, at Northwood Good Samaritan Retirement Community in Jasper.

He was born May 6, 1928, in Stendal, Indiana, to Alvey and Estella (Shorde) Bailey. He married Ruth M. Roettger on June 30, 1950, in Stendal. 

Paul was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Stendal. He was employed as a woodworking craftsman in a furniture factory. He served his country as a corporal in the United States Army during the occupation of Germany following World War II. 

Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth M. Bailey, who passed away January 4, 2013; seven brothers, Marvin, Amel, Charles, Hershel, Luther, Floyd and Jess Bailey; and two sisters, Elsie Barrett and Renelda Erwin.

He is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Ronnie (Patty) Bailey of Jasper and Randy (Sandy) Bailey of Petersburg; five grandchildren, Tonya (Brady) Walton of Jasper, Tracy Bailey of Jasper, Eric Bailey of Jasper, Kimberly (Cody) Shoultz of Petersburg and Skyla (Luke) Melhiser of Winslow; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Paul G. Bailey will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Stendal. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Stendal along with military graveside rites. Pastor Ed Wicks will officiate at the funeral.

Friends may call for visitation at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, the day of the service. 

Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg has been entrusted with the arrangements.
