Phillip Michael Greenberg, 80, Terre Haute
Phillip Michael Greenberg, born March 18, 1941, passed away peacefully, on March 21, 2021, in his home at Wyndmoor Assisted Living in Terre Haute.
He attained the rank of Eagle in the Boy Scouts and attended the 1957 National Jamboree before he graduated from Washington High School in 1959.
He was a member of Tau Kappa Alpha fraternity as well as Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity at Indiana State College where he received his B.S in 1963 and his M.S in 1966.
He worked as a music teacher and band director at several Indiana public schools from 1965 to 1975. These schools include Monroeville HS ’65-’66, South Henry S.C. ’66-’67, Burney HS ’67-’68, Crothersville HS ’68-’70, Huntingburg HS ’70-’71, Bedford HS ’71-’72, Fayetteville K-12 ’72-’74 and Rosedale HS ’74-’75.
He went on to manage the Artco Frame Shop owned by his mother-In-law, Kay Burroughs of Terre Haute and later Galloway Photo of Terre Haute.
He was a member of the Terre Haute chapter of the Optimist Club in the 1980’s and achieved the honor of vice president.
The job from which he retired was as the School Band Instrument Rep for Willis Music in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He was an avid outdoorsman and an exceptionally skilled woodcarver. His work has been featured in several different local, regional and national publications.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Juanita Greenberg; his sister, Leanna (Greenberg) Broadhead; his wife of 43 years, Patricia (Burroughs) Greenberg; and his daughter, Kathryn Michelle (Greenberg) Thomas.
He is survived by his brother, Sam Greenberg of Indianapolis; and his sister, Sara (Greenberg) Garcia of Burke, VA; his son, Thomas Greenberg;, and his daughter-in-law, Beth (Anderson) Greenberg, both of Terre Haute; and his grandchildren, Kelli (Greenberg) Aellen of Minneapolis, MN; and his twin granddaughters, Chloe Greenberg and Corinne Greenberg; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Due to COVID restrictions there was a small gathering at Greiner Funeral Home in Terre Haute and a graveside ceremony with just his immediate family. He was laid to rest next to his beloved wife at Highland Lawn Cemetery in Terre Haute.
