Police searching for driver in Haysville rollover crash

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department ended up searching for the driver of a pickup truck who fled the scene after police arrived Sunday afternoon.

Police think the man suffered an injury when he was thrown from the truck he was allegedly operating after it rolled on Haysville Road West west of Haysville at about 1:02 p.m.

According to police, the man, whom they have refrained from identifying at this time, was eastbound on Haysville Road West in a yellow Ford Ranger when, for an unknown reason, the truck went left of center. It continued off the north side of the road where it lost a tire and then flipped.

When deputies arrived, they found the man with a laceration to his head. He was directed to another vehicle at the scene but he then ran into the woods on the south side of the road.

The sheriff’s department, with the assistance of Indiana State Police, Department of Natural Resources conservation officers, the Huntingburg Police Department, the Martin County Sheriff’s Department and three K-9 units searched the area for about two and a half hours.

Police said the man who fled is from Daviess County and was believed to be seeking assistance from friends to leave the area.

The sheriff’s department is not releasing the individual’s name until a warrant is issued for his arrest.

The crash totaled the truck.
