Process Center expands options for disposal of certain items
Process Center available to accept magazines, books, batteries and plastic bags for recycling
The Solid Waste District announced Dubois County residents can bring some items that they haven’t been able to drop off at any of the eight collection sites since March to the main site at 1103 S. 350 W., Jasper, for disposal.
Our eight county drop sites are open on a contactless and self-serve basis. This has allowed them to continue regular hours so far through the entire pandemic. However, there are certain items that residents have been asked to hold on to, due to the contactless operation of the sites.
Our Process Center location is now able to take those items from any Dubois County resident during our regular public hours. The Process Center hours are much more limited than the regular residential sites, but we hope that many residents can take advantage of this and get those items they have been storing up properly recycled.
Items to be accepted at the Process Center and how to sort those items into 4 categories:
- Magazines/Catalogs – slick glossy paper
- Books/booklets/magazines/catalogs– any other type of paper
- Bag/film plastic– clean/dry plastic grocery bags, retail bags, paper towel wrap, newspaper bags, plastic air pillows, etc.
- Non-alkaline batteries– button cell, rechargeable of any kind, lithium, Nickel-cadmium, lead acid, etc.
Residents are required to wear a face covering while on site, and to stay in their vehicle until the attendant has greeted them. One resident is served at a time. Be prepared to hand small amounts to attendant or to be asked to get out and unload your own items.
The Process Center is located at 1103 S 350 W, Jasper and regular public hours are 8 am to 1 pm Monday through Friday, closed all county holidays. We will have special extended hours on Tuesday, November 24, which will be 8 am until 6 pm. The SWMD Facebook page will have the most up to date information.
