Purdue partnership brings engineering and manufacturing classes to VUJC

Vincennes University Jasper Campus in cooperation with the Purdue Manufacturing Extension Partnership and Dubois Strong will offer quality workshops for Spring 2017.

Blueprint Reading will be held February 28 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This 8-hour course provides an introduction to reading and interpreting engineering prints for manufacturing. The training focuses on interpretation of dimensioning & tolerancing, views, symbols, shape descriptions, fabrication and assembly information and related standardized documentary practices on drawings.

Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing: The Basics will be held March 16 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. GD&T is a symbolic language that is used on engineering drawings to specify features of a part, including the size, shape, form and orientation. GD&T was created to improve quality, reduce cost, and ensure that mating parts are assembled properly.

SPC – Statistical Process Control will be held April 20 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Statistical process control (SPC) involves using statistics – numbers and data – to measure and control the quality of a process. Manufacturers use
SPC to reduce reject rates, save money and time, and ultimately consistently deliver products that meet customers’ requirements. In this workshop, which includes numerous hands-on activities and realistic examples, students learn about SPC concepts that can easily apply to everyday work in manufacturing or quality.

Cost is $249 per session and includes all materials.
