Getting Raider Field ready for Regional

Photos by Matthew Crane.

When the sun didn’t make an appearance over the three inches of snow on Raider Field Saturday, a call out for help on social media was made.

After the word went out on Facebook, an army of snowblowers, shovels, and more showed up to help get the field cleared off.

“Raider Pride was never so evident when Raider Nation came together…Southwest Maintenance, Coaches, School Board Members, Parents, Community and even those without Raider Football ties came together this morning for a little over three hours to clear three inches of snow off Raider Field for tonight’s Regional Contest,” wrote Coach Scott Buening on the school’s blog. “Huge shout out to John Menke, Ted O’Brien and The Huntingburg Country Club and Hopf Equipment for donating time and equipment to help us get this done.”

“It ain’t like this everywhere and GO RAIDERS!” he added.

Parker Frick, 9, of Huntingburg, struggled as he pushed a shovelful of snow across Raider Field Saturday afternoon.
