The Dubois REC Board of Directors met recently, and, after much discussion, research and consideration, decided it would be in the best interest of our membership to cancel the 2020 Annual Membership Meeting and postpone the director elections until 2021.
The board has been considering this matter since the original date of the meeting in April, which fell at the height of the COVID-19 situation. Board members discussed several options, including pushing the date back to later this year. After looking at the state and local guidelines for large, indoor gatherings, we determined there was not a good way for us to conduct our meeting safely this year.
We recognize that the director election is a very important part of the annual meeting. It is imperative that members have the opportunity to both submit a petition to run for a seat and be able to vote for other members to represent them as directors. For this reason, the 2020 election, which featured Districts 3, 4, and 6 will be postponed until the next annual meeting.
We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of our members in this matter, as the Directors and Management of Dubois REC always strive to put the best interest of our members in the forefront of any business decisions that are made.
