Resident at Jasper nursing home dies from Covid-19

Good Samaritan Society – Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper, Indiana, has confirmed that one resident infected with Covid-19 has died.

Five other residents and three employees have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the company.

“This is truly a sad time for our entire Good Samaritan Society family,” the company said in a statement this afternoon. “Every resident who comes through our doors becomes family, and losing these cherished members of our family weighs heavily on our hearts. We pray for peace and comfort for their loved ones.”

The company commended its staff saying they were proud of how they had stepped up in this difficult time to faithfully care for its residents.

According to the statement, the organization has been closely following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Indiana State Department of Health to ensure its infection control measures meet the needs of the ever-evolving pandemic.
