The 35th Annual WBDC Country Showdown local competition concluded on June 9th naming The Riegle Family Band of Muncie as the winner.
This win marks the completion of the first step in the prestigious national contest. The Riegle Family Band’s combination of musical talent, stage presence, charisma, and musicianship caught the attention of the judges, Roger Conley, Jean Ann Birkle and Jim Klem.
The Riegle Family Band — comprised of four siblings: Shannon Daniel, 14; Gracie, 12; and twins Daryle and Missy, 11 — will advance to the Regional Competition of the Country Showdown later this year.
Regional winners advance to the Semi-Finals and then the National Final, exuding talent and energy in the performances and winning more $100,000 in cash and prizes and the National Title.
Rodney Watts of Petersburg was First Runner Up, and Robert Stutsman of Huntingburg was Second Runner Up.
The 35th annual WBDC Country Showdown was backed by house band “HAYWIRE,” featuring Dusty Miller, Greg Eaton, Levi Shields, Roy Boyer, and Craig Brown.

The WBDC Country Showdown finds the most promising country music talent in the area, giving these performers a chance to launch a professional career.
Regional winners are awarded a trip to the semi-finals, and then the national final where they will compete for the $100,000 grand prize and title of “Best New Act in Country Music.” Nearly $200,000 in cash and prizes is awarded to the thousands of aspiring artist who compete each year. Nationwide, two million fans will experience the Country Showdown via hundreds of live shows, nationally syndicated television, and radio broadcasts.
