Robert J. Heeke, 78, of Bretzville died Saturday April 13th at his home.

He was born October 15, 1934 to Fred & Anna (Braunecker) Heeke in Huntingburg. He married Norma Lee Fischer on June 4,1960 in St. Meinrad Catholic Church, St. Meinrad. She preceded him in death on January 13,1975. He married Saravina “Sara”(Denning) Ubelhor on December 3,1976 in Tell City, In.

Robert was retired from JOFCO in Jasper. He was a member of St.Anthony Catholic Church, St. Anthony. He was a member of St. Meinrad K of C Council # 5599. His hobbies were fishing, gardening, horseshoes, woodworking, bicycling, & birdwatching.

Surviving are his wife, Saravina “Sara” Heeke; four daughters, Patty Mehling and her husband Russell of Bristow, Jackie Merkley and her husband Joe of St. Anthony, Sandy Begle and her husband Jeff of Bretzville, Paula Roeder and her husband Todd of Daphne, AL; two sons, David Heeke and his wife Sherry of Jasper, and Duane Ubelhor of Jasper; and 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; his mother, Anna Heeke of Tell City; four sisters, Alberta Hanners of Louisville, KY., Shirley Sullivan and her husband Roger of Louisville KY., Rosemary LaGrange and her husband Joe of St. Croix, Rita LaGrange and her husband Allen of Tell City; four brothers, Pat Heeke and his wife Jane of Troy, Francis Heeke and his wife Martha of Evanston, Daniel Heeke and his wife Sharon of Bristow, and Jim Heeke and his wife Katie of Troy.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Charles, Joe, Paul Heeke and one sister, Mary Ann Heeke in infancy.

Funeral services 10:00 CDT Wednesday in St. Meinrad Catholic Church, St. Meinrad. With burial to follow in the church cemetery.
