Robert L. Schaeffer, 82

Robert L. Schaeffer, 82, of Santa Claus, passed away, Friday, July 18, 2014, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper.

He was born August 15, 1931 to Paul and Nora ( Schulte ) Schaeffer in Fulda.

Robert married JoAnn Daming on November 22, 1956, at St. Marks Catholic Church in Tell City.

Robert was a partner in Schaeffer Trucking and High Point Inc. He was also a self-employed farmer who especially enjoyed working on his back-hoe. Robert was a veteran of the Korean Conflict where he earned the Purple Heart Award.

Robert is survived by his wife, JoAnn; two sons, Brian and his wife Stacy of Santa Claus, Gale and his girlfriend Crystal of Santa Claus; two sisters, Lidwina Miller of Fulda and Dorothy Foertsh of Evanston; two grandchildren, Morgan and Jason Schaeffer both of Santa Claus.

Robert was preceded in death by a brother, Norbert Schaeffer and one sister, Alberta Keller.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 20th at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. CST and Monday from 7:30 until 9:30 a.m. CST at the Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. CST Monday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fulda with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
