Robert Lee “Bob” Wertman, 89, Holland

Robert Lee “Bob” Wertman, 89, of Holland, passed away at 7:03 p.m., on Sunday, March 29, 2020, at the Hendry Regional Medical Center in Clewiston, Florida.

He was born October 14, 1930, in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Ralph and Grace (Sattler) Wertman. He married Sharon Ann Wibbeler on September 1, 1956, at the Holland Methodist Church. 

Bob graduated from Holland High School in the class of 1949. He was a farmer and worked at the Holland Dairy.

Bob served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was stationed on the USS Oriskany and USS Bairoko. 

He was a member of the Holland United Methodist Church and Holland American Legion Post #343 for 60 years. He was an avid sports fan; and was honored for his longtime support of Southridge Raider Athletics when he was presented the 2018 Spirit of Southridge Award. 

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Paul Wertman.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sharon Ann Wertman of Holland, Ind.; two sons, Kevin (spouse, Diane) Wertman of Holland, Ind. and Lee (spouse, Jeff Rothweiler) Wertman of St. Louis, Missouri; one daughter, Tammy Wertman of Holland, Ind.; (5) grandchildren and (3) great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Bob Wertman will be held at a later date to be announced.
