Robert Martin Lichlyter, age 89, of Huntingburg, passed away at 1:00 a.m., on Friday, August 23, 2013 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.

He was born April 5, 1924 in Huntingburg, Indiana to Jacob and Serfronia (Mason) Lichlyter. He married E. Naomi Simpson of Gentryville on December 24, 1942 in Evansville, Indiana and together they had six children.

Bob is survived by: his longtime love of 23 years, Earlene Schmett of Huntingburg; one brother, Russell Lichlyter of Jimmerson Lake, Indiana; two sisters, Peggy Bockting of Tucson, Arizona and Betty Croft of Marion, Kentucky. He is also survived by his former wife, Naomi; one son, Jack (spouse: Nikki) Lichlyter; four daughters, Vicki (spouse: Hank) Giesecke, Diane Brooks, Dale (spouse: Steve) Houser, and Sherri (spouse: Mike) Kirk all of Arizona; by nine grandchildren, assorted step grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; one brother, Daniel Lichlyter; three sisters, Wilma Hoffhaus, Irene Polen, and Jean Fleck; one infant daughter, Debbie Lichlyter; and one infant grandson, Thomas Matheus.

Bob served in the United States Army during World War II from 1945-1947. He worked as a tool and die maker for International Harvester and Servel in Indiana. He later became a used car dealer in Phoenix, Arizona and several places in Indiana, most recently, Huntingburg. He was a member of the Huntingburg V.F.W. Post #2366 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Funeral services for Robert Lichlyter will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.D.T., on Monday, August 26, 2013 at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. The V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail will conduct military graveside rites.
