Schneider sentenced to 85 years for murder

Dubois County Circuit Court Judge Nathan Verkamp sentenced Kyle Schneider to 85 years in prison for the murder of Chloie Lubbehusen in a St. Anthony home earlier this year.

Schneider received a sentence of six years recently for a Level 4 felony count of possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon bringing his total sentence in jail to 91 years.

It took a jury less than an hour to find Schneider guilty of murder back in May after a week-long trial.

  1. Thank you Judge Verkamp even though he should have paid with his life justice has been served. This nation could take lessons form you sir.

    1. Agree partially – certainly on the sentence and (not mentioned) the expeditious trial time from commission to verdict and sentencing which often drags out for a year or more – but not totally. Unfortunately, the nation HAS taken lessons from this judge’s all-too-often soft, loop-hole rulings/sentences in many previous cases – or to be fair, maybe visa-versa. We can only hope he’s turned a consistent corner toward rendering more appropriate, fact-based and common-sense rulings/sentences in a swift/timely manner as this one – as we hope for all judges.
