The Sister Cities Partnership between Jasper and Pfaffenweiler updated their mutual logo.
The new logo was unveiled during a special ceremony at the Jasper Parklands Pavillion Monday.
Dr. Ross Halvorsen, who teaches German in the Jasper School Corporation and at VUJ, led the efforts to update the logo to better reflect the two cities since Jasper had updated its logo in 2015.
A contest was announced last fall and Halvorsen was surprised when more than 60 designs were submitted from Jasper and Pfaffenweiller. After closing the submission process, Halvorsen opened it up between the two groups to each submit five of their favorite designs. He felt this would lead to a clear winner, however, each group submitted five unique designs with no clear crossover.
He then took these 10 designs and had the groups vote for their favorites and in the end, a design by Tracy Lorey came out on top. As the winning logo submission, Lorey received a $500 award from the partnership groups.
