VU Jasper will offer Intro to Lean & Six Sigma Concepts on three Thursdays April 6, 13 and 20 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Students will be introduced to Six Sigma tools, principles, quality variation, root cause analysis, Kaizen principles, Six Sigma theory and the use of measuring devices. Also, Demings 14 points of lean, history lean, elimination of waste and the elimination of defects. Kaizen principles will be covered in the class in relationship to both concepts.
Instruction will include class lecture, hands-on activities, case study, problem solving with Six Sigma, and design of a Six Sigma project. Upon completion, students will have a better understanding on how to use Six Sigma to resolve problems and have an understanding how the customer is involved. Upon successful completion student will receive a Vincennes University non-credit Certificate of Completion.
The instructor is Darwyn Nelson who has been adjunct faculty for Vincennes University since 2001 and has designed various quality programs and process systems in manufacturing plants throughout the Midwest.
