SW Dubois County School Corporation hires Mehaffey as new superintendent

Chip Mehaffey, former superintendent of Loogootee Community Schools, has been hired by the Southwest Dubois County School Corporation Board of Trustees as the new superintendent of schools.

Mr. Mehaffey brings 34 years of experience in education. He served as the superintendent for the Loogootee Community Schools for six years before retiring in 2021. During his career in education, he has served in a variety of positions, including assistant superintendent, high school principal, and athletic director. He has also spent 23 years as a math teacher and coached varsity basketball.

Mr. Mehaffey and his wife, Stacy, have three children and six grandchildren.

In his free time, he enjoys traveling, spending time with his family, playing with his two puppies, and golf.

Mr. Mehaffey will fill the position left open after the former superintendent, Tim LaGrange, announced his resignation to take a position in Washington State earlier in September.
