Two Jasper residents are facing preliminary charges of Level 1 felony attempted murder after two men showed up at Memorial Hospital with stab wounds Monday morning.
According to Indiana State Police, Chad Norris, 37, and Cory Norris, 38, both of Otwell, arrived at Memorial Hospital with stab wounds from an incident that occurred at their residence. Cory had minor injuries and was able to drive the pair to the hospital. However, Chad’s injuries were more serious and he is currently being admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Police initiated an investigation into the incident. According to investigators, Lloyd J. Carpenter, 37, and Emily Shelton, 24, drove to an Otwell gas station where they parked their car. They walked then walked to the Norris residence allegedly to rob them.
During an altercation at the residence, Shelton allegedly struck Chad and then Carpenter allegedly stabbed him and Cory. Carpenter and Shelton immediately fled the residence.
State police arrested Shelton at about noon Monday at a residence in Birdseye. She faces preliminary charges of Level 1 felony attempted murder, Level 3 felony conspiracy to commit robbery, and Class B misdemeanor battery. Shelton was lodged in the Pike County Jail and is being held without bond.
Monday at about 4:55 p.m., Indiana State Police Sergeant Detective Brock Werne located Carpenter when he walked out of a wooded area near County Road 300 North and County Road 175 East in Dubois County. Carpenter is facing preliminary counts of Level 1 felony attempted murder, Level 3 felony aggravated battery, and Level 3 felony conspiracy to commit robbery. He is also being held without bond in the Pike County Jail.
