Violet Jeanette “Igg” Collins, 88, Huntingburg

Violet Jeanette “Igg” Collins, 88, Huntingburg, passed away at 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

She was born August 3, 1927, in Huntingburg, Indiana to Albert and Lillian (Brockriede) Hilgeman. She married Marvin “Buck” Collins on May 8, 1948, at the Salem Church parsonage in Huntingburg.

Jeanette worked at General Electric for 20 years and also at the Best Western Dutchman Inn Restaurant for 20 years. She was a member of Zoar United Methodist Church; was an avid Indiana University basketball fan; and enjoyed following the weather.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin “Buck” Collins, who passed away November 10, 2002; and two brothers, Ellis Hilgeman and Allen “Pickle” Hilgeman.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sandy (Greg) Zink of Huntingburg; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Gary Allen (Faye) Collins of Huntingburg and Jeff (Ginger) Collins of Jasper; two sisters, Dorthea Chase of Indianapolis and Connie Frick of Huntingburg; by three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Violet Jeanette “Igg” Collins will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 11, 2016, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Zoar Cemetery in Zoar, Indiana. Pastor Keith Chanley will officiate at the funeral service.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday.
