Whitney Sharon Rose Patterson, 32, of Evansville, passed away at 4:00 p.m. C.D.T., Thursday, September 21, 2017, at her home in Evansville.

She was born September 13, 1985, in Jasper to Dean Patterson and Lauren (Stout) Patterson.

She was a staff writer and assistant editor at News 4 U Magazine in Evansville. She was a social and political activist; a member of the Tri-State Alliance. She enjoyed art, painting, writing stories and poetry. She loved animals; especially dogs and referred to her canine pets, Roo and Jett, as “her girls”.

She was preceded in death by her fraternal grandfather, Robert Patterson; her maternal grandparents, Ruth Pauly and Eddie Stout; her aunt, Sharon Stout.

Whitney is survived by her mother and stepfather, Lauren and Max Mollette of Grandview; her father, Dean Patterson of Kaneohe, Hawaii; her fraternal grandmother, Imogene “Jean” Patterson of Jasper; siblings,  Brian, Daniel and John of Birdseye and Latisha and Eric of Kaneohe, Hawaii; her best friend, D’Arcei Morgan O’Leary of Evansville; Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

A memorial service for Whitney Patterson will be held at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2017, at Christian Church at Alfordsville, 6386 S. Church St., Loogootee. Friends may call for visitation one hour prior to the service at the church beginning at 12:30 p.m. There will not be any visitation at Nass Funeral Home. Brother Jason Denton will lead the service.

  1. Although I didn’t know you personally, we both loved the same person you called Mom. You are so much like her. Beautiful, talented, and from what I can tell you are someone who stood up for the ” underdog” it’s very sad that this world lost you. Your work here must have been completed. Although you are not here in flesh your spirit will live on in those who love you. I can’t imagine what your internal fight must have been, but I know for certain heaven has no struggle. Even though you are in paradise today, don’t forget the ” underdogs” still on Earth. Show yourself in the beauty of flowers, fly by as a butterfly to give comfort to those who loved you. Fly high and rest easy.
