Will Read and Sing for Food show raises $13,101 for polio eradication

The performing troupe Will Read and Sing for Food led by Scott Saalman announced the recent show to support Rotary International’s polio eradication efforts raised $13,101.

The amount raised for the Rotary Foundation Plus effort was made possible thanks to a two-for-one dollar match agreement between the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Rotary International.

“Way to go, Dubois County audience and Rotary members,” said Saalman on the troupe’s Facebook Page. “Special thanks to our official WRASFF show sponsors that night: Julie Dutchess, Bob Dutchess, Jim and Pat Thyen, Patty Saalman and MJ Saalman, Seufert Construction, and Sandra Karney and Ron Karney.”

The performers that evening included Desmond Zion Albert, Shel Christian (Shelantea Fisher), Shawn Needham, Kyle Lueken, Debbie Schuetter Marc Steczyk, Ed Cole, Jim McFaul and Ray Major and JHS speech champion Shambly Sorrels.

The next performance of Will Read and Sing for Food is set for February 23 to benefit the Dubois County Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) office.

To date, WRASFF audience members have raised $137,125 for 40-plus charities and causes, mostly in Dubois County.

“This is what it’s all about,” Saalman added.
