William Boyd Wineinger, 91, Otwell
William Boyd Wineinger, 91, of Otwell, went to his forever home on February 5, 2022, surrounded by his children.

He fought the good fight, and finished his race at the home he shared with his daughter and son-in-law, in Otwell.
He was born May 27, 1930 to William Franklin Wineinger and Helen Myrtle (Richardson) Wineinger in Ireland.
He married the love of his life, Shirley Imogene Dunn, on May 6, 1955, at the home of her parents in Otwell. Shirley went to her eternal reward on January 22, 2021.
Boyd enlisted in the United States Navy on April 28, 1949, spending most of his time on the U.S.S. Kaskaskia, during the North Korean Aggression and his home port in San Pedro, California. He received an honorable discharge from the Navy Jan. 15, 1951 and joined the United States Air Force Jan. 16, 1951. He, along with only five other airmen, served in an early warning station in a secluded area close to enemy territory. He later was transferred to a larger base in the central part of Japan. While serving in the USAF, he received the United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 15, 1955 from the USAF.
Boyd farmed with his family in Velpen prior to his enlistments. He owned and drove a semi-truck for most of his life. He and Shirley team-drove together over the road for several years. They worked together at the Jr. Food Mart and Subway in Petersburg for a number of years when Shirley was the manager. They loved riding motorcycles, boating, camping, and traveling with their children. For many years, after retirement, they lived during the winters in their home in Melbourne, Florida.
Boyd loved to read, ride bicycles, feed birds and squirrels, and spend time with his beloved wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was very proud of his military service and was a life-long member of the VFW in Petersburg.
Mr. Wineinger is survived by his children, Calvin (Christy) Wineinger, of Velpen, Debra Brown of English, and Marcia (Keith) Hill, of Otwell; his brother, Phillip Wineinger, of Freedom; sisters Lillian Sievers of Texas, and Gloria Street of Florida. His beloved grandchildren are Nate and Logan Wineinger, Aaron Standley, Aric and Abby Boger, Mindy Hill-Keeker, John Hill, and Katie Cullen. He was blessed with 15 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he adored and who adored him.
He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, parents Bill and Helen Wineinger; brother Lloyd Wineinger; sister Sherrell Jackson; son-in-law Mark Brown; and granddaughter Melanie Wineinger.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11. The funeral service is at 2 p.m. EST at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, with his grandson-in-law, Rev. Ian Cullen, officiating. Military graveside service follows at Otwell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Boyd’s name to the VFW in Petersburg, or TTR Haven over the Hilltop, Inc.
