Group educating community about new K-9 units and officers

The community will be able to meet and learn about the two new K-9 units area departments have added this year.

“Foundations for the Future,” a group comprised of members of the 2013 Class of the Dubois County Leadership Academy, is partnering with the Dubois County area K-9 Units to create community awareness, support and education about our K-9 law enforcement. The group is planning two events in the coming weeks to show support.

On Sunday, July 21st area K-9 Units will be on hand during the Dubois County Bombers game at Huntingburg’s League Stadium. This will be a great opportunity for the community to meet the K-9s and learn more about the benefits they provide to the community. During the event there will be displays that will have more information and stats about each K-9 Officer.

On Saturday, July 27th the “Foundations for the Future” will be running concessions during the Dubois County Youth Tri-Athlon at Huntingburg Municipal Park. All proceeds from the event will go to Dubois County Sherriff Departments K-9 program.

Individuals or businesses wanting to donate to the program can send a check to the Dubois County Sheriff Department indicate “K-9 program” in the memo line. You can also contact the Dubois County Community Foundation for addition information.

“Foundations for the Future” members are Nicole Hurrle, Carie Dick, Jessica Mehringer, Nathan Mathies, Ryan Schuetter and Nick Stevens.
