First Sergeant Greg Ashby Promoted to Lieutenant

On Sunday, February 16, Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter promoted First Sergeant Greg Ashby to the rank of Lieutenant to serve as the District Commander for the Jasper Post.

Ashby is a native of Orange County and a 1988 graduate the Springs Valley High School. After high school, Ashby served his country for seven years in the United States Marines Corp, with six months served in Operation Desert Storm. In 1995 Ashby earned an Associate’s Degree in Law Enforcement from Vincennes University.

Ashby graduated from the Indiana State Police Recruit Academy in 1997. He was assigned to the Evansville District, transferring to the Jasper District in 1999 to patrol Orange County. As a member of the Indiana State Police, Ashby has served as a Squad Sergeant, a detective, a member of the Tactical Intervention Platoon, a Field Training Officer, and a member of the Hostage Crisis Negotiator Team. Ashby was promoted as the Assistant District Commander of the Jasper Post in 2011.

Lieutenant Ashby and his wife Harmony reside in Orange County. They have three children: Michelle, Marcus and Austin.

Jasper Detective Recognized for 20 Years of Service

Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter recognized Master Trooper Detective David Henderson for serving the Indiana State Police for 20 years.

Henderson is a native of Orleans and a 1989 graduate of Orleans High School. After high school, Henderson attended Vincennes University, graduating in 1991 with an Associate Degree in Law Enforcement.

Henderson graduated on December 20, 1993 from the 50th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy. He was assigned to the Jasper District and patrolled Daviess, Martin and Orange counties. Throughout his career, Henderson has been involved in many facets of the department, including working in the Problem Oriented Policing squad, being a Crime Scene Investigator and a defensive tactics instructor. In January, 2010, Henderson was promoted to Detective, serving as an investigator within the Jasper District.

Master Trooper Detective Henderson and his wife, Heather, reside in Orleans with their two children, Whitley and Drew.

Jasper District Trooper Recognized for Service

Master Trooper Thomas Campbell was recognized for achieving 30 years of service as an Indiana State Police Trooper.

Master Trooper Campbell is a 1979 graduate of Rivet Catholic High School in Vincennes and graduated from Vincennes University in 1981 with a degree in Law Enforcement. M/Trp. Campbell joined the State Police in 1983, graduating as a member of the 41st Recruit School. M/Trp. Campbell was assigned to the Jasper District to patrol Spencer County. In 1988, M/Trp. Campbell became a member of the original Mustang Program (now known as the High Performance Vehicle Unit), a capacity he served in for 11 years, and has additionally served as a Field Training Officer. M/Trp. Campbell has worked with the Jaycees Pioneer Kids Camp for the last 20 years, helping at-risk youth. He continues to patrol Spencer County within his current assignment.

Master Trooper Campbell resides in Spencer County with his wife Renee. They have two children, Christopher and Jessica.

State Police Sergeant Recognized for Service

Sergeant Paul Andry has been recognized by Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter for achieving 30 years of service to the Indiana State Police.

Sgt. Andry graduated as a member of the 41st Indiana State Police Recruit School in December, 1983 after first attending Vincennes University and the University of Evansville. Sgt. Andry was initially assigned to the Evansville District to serve as a trooper covering Pike County, and was promoted to Detective for the Evansville Post in 1985. In 1986, Sgt. Andry was assigned as an undercover officer, and has served as a narcotics detective in various capacities since. Sgt. Andry is currently assigned as the south zone sergeant over the ISP Methamphetamine Suppression Section, where he oversees field operation of the MSS units.

Sgt. Andry resides in his home town of Paoli with his wife Laurie Jo. They have five sons: ISP Trooper Shane Staggs, Cameron Andry, Cory Andry, Calyle Andry, and Caleb Andry, which, as he describes, is hopefully a future Trooper.
