Jive Aces swing into Jasper for a fun, holiday-themed performance this weekend

Jasper Arts Center puts some swing into the Christmas season with a performance by the UK’s No. 1 Jive & Swing Band

The performance, presented by Jasper Community Arts, will be held at the Jasper Arts Center on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 7:30 p.m. Legendary British swing band, The Jive Aces, bring their seasonal show to town for a performance that combines the warmth you’d expect from a holiday program, with the incredible excitement that the group generates.

The Jive Aces are renowned worldwide for their high-energy music and spectacular stage show. They are perhaps best known as the first live band to reach the final rounds of “Britain’s Got Talent” and for their award-winning viral video,“Bring Me Sunshine”, which has 3 million views online.

The show features the band’s inimitable take on Christmas classics such as “White Christmas”, “Winter Wonderland”, “Jingle Bells” and “Let it Snow”; swing favourites by such greats as Louis Prima and Nat King Cole including “In The Mood”,“L.O.V.E.” and“Sing, Sing, Sing”; plus a few more rocking tunes such as Big Joe Turner’s “Boogie Woogie Country Girl.”

This swinging sextet have performed for The Queen, as well as working with Van Morrison and John Travolta. They’ve played to capacity crowds at The Royal Albert Hall, Buckingham Palace, Glastonbury Festival, London Olympics, The Kennedy Center and have graced stages in 40 countries.

They famously cheered up a grumpy Simon Cowell and wowed the judges on “BGT”. Other TV appearances include “Strictly Come Dancing” and “Good Day L.A.”, as well as hundreds of radio and regional TV shows. Special guest is singer/actress, Makinna Ridgway, born in Portland but now living in Hollywood. Makinna’s screen credits include “Castle”, “Grimm” and award winning short “Taylor’s Way”.

A classic beauty with a wonderful voice and also a natural comedienne, Makinna brings to mind singers such as Keely Smith and Ella Fitzgerald. She is also a founder member of the Satin Dollz pinup dancers.

People who wish to experience this exciting performance should call the Jasper Arts Center right away at (812) 482-3070. Tickets are still available but they’re going fast! Prices are $35 for adults, $33 for seniors, and $30 for students and children. Group rates are available.
