Reward offered for break-in and vandalism information

voegerl-frontJasper — An 89 Chevrolet Camaro was considered a total loss after vandals broke into the building it was being stored in and took a crowbar to it.

The car’s owner, Paul Voegerl, had moved the Camaro into the former-Indiana Wood Products building on the 1300 block of Vine Street about two months ago for storage. Voegerl purchased the building from the county last year and has been renovating portions of the structure since.

Sometime after 8 p.m. Wednesday evening, the vandals broke down a door and shattered a window to gain access to the building.

The vandals cut a padlock to a tool storage area in the building and tools were removed but none were reported missing.

The suspects then took a crowbar and broke all the windows in a junk vehicle stored there before turning on the Camaro. They broke every window on the car, knocked the mirrors off and  punctured and dented the body and hood.

They left the crowbar at the scene.

Voegerl discovered the crime at 8 a.m. Thursday morning.

Jasper Crime Stoppers is offering $500 reward and Voegerl is offering a $2000 reward to anyone that provides information leading to the arrest of the individuals involved in the vandalism. If anyone has information they are directed to contact the Jasper Police Department at 482-2255 or the anonymous tip line at 481-2766 (COPS).
