Stephen R. Pence, 80, Jasper

Stephen R. Pence, 80, of Jasper, formerly of Columbia City and Wabash, Ind., passed away at 6:04 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2017, in Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper.

Stephen was born in Columbia City, Ind. on March 22, 1937, to Russell and Helen (Donnelty) Pence. He married Nancy E. (Studinski) Pence on July 3, 1972 at Warsaw, Indiana, she preceded him in death on December 31, 2016.

Stephen earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame in business commerce.

He retired from General tire at Wabash where he had worked for over forty years. He loved to watch sports, especially Notre Dame Football, and enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing and playing golf.

He is survived by one daughter, Polly (Brad) Sumansky of Terre Haute; one son, John (Cathy) Householder of Nashville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Ryan (Jennifer), Grant and Zachary Householder, and Joseph and Anna Sumansky.
One great-grandson, Cason Householder.

Preceding him in death besides his wife are three brothers, Richard, William and Jack Pence.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2017, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center.
